Based in Chirnside, between Duns and Berwick upon Tweed, I have been running my own small business for the last few years working around Berwickshire, North Northumberland and East Lothian.

After training in Horticulture at the Scottish College of Agriculture I began work at East Lothian District Council Parks Department where I gained great experience in all aspects of horticulture and landscaping. For a time I was based at the greenhouses in Dunbar where I had the immensely satisfying and enjoyable job of raising the plants used by ELDC in their parks throughout East Lothian; it was probably when I was there that I got seriously bitten by the gardening bug, the time-served gardeners that I was working with really inspired me and even sent me to compete on a national level doing show gardens at the Royal Highland Showground.

In recent years I have become involved in maintaining Chirnside Bowling Green and have a clientele of regular customers whose gardens I look after on a routine schedule basis. I also work on small one-off contracts doing small scale landscaping jobs.

My work most often consists of grass cutting and hedge trimming, as well as pruning, planting and shrub maintenance as well as  turfing, slabbing and other landscaping work like fence erection, driveway construction, laying gravel chips and bark and concreting and I regularly erect huts and greenhouses and do general garden tidy-ups and clearance work.
